About Us

Teen Life Connections is a youth asset-building program designed for adolescents throughout Dutchess County. Based on the 40 identified youth developmental assets (Search Institute, Minneapolis, MN), youth develop the skills necessary to make changes in their decisions and thought processes. The primary goal for the youth participating in TLC is increasing their growth in developing their own pro-social value system by decreasing their negative behaviors and resisting negative peer influences.

Through a group process, teens are able to re-assess their value system and make changes to more pro-social values, attitudes and beliefs. Content is designed to encourage thought and self-initiation among the group members. Topics are tailored toward the specific group but include subjects such as: peer pressure, self-esteem, healthy relationships, sexual harassment, drugs, alcohol, and gangs.

Teen Life Connections is a mobile program, offering services in settings where teens are accessible. TLC adapts its content to provide 10 session workshops in school settings. In community agencies TLC provides on-going services so as to develop strong relationships with the youth involved in the program.
