 Danette Garcia Director of the Special Needs Parenting Program |
Danette Garcia,
Director of the Special Needs Parenting Program, has been working with the Developmentally Delayed/Mentally Handicapped population for 18 years. She attends yearly trainings by the Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities Services. Danette has worked at the Child Abuse Prevention Center since 1998. In 2003, she gained credential as a Family Development Specialist through Cornell University. Danette oversees Coordination of services with all Dutchess County agencies involved in the lives of the families involved in the Special Needs Parenting Program.

 Barbara O'Dea Director of Education |
Barbara O'Dea, Education Director,
is a former junior high
school teacher with a B.S. in psychology. She is also a wife and mother to
two teenagers and one pre-teen. She had volunteered at the Child Abuse
Prevention Center for five years before coming on board as a member of the
staff. She also supervises the following programs:
- Personal Safety Program: the child sexual abuse prevention program for
children K-5.
- Teen Life Program: a life skills and child-abuse prevention program in
the junior and senior high schools.
- Strong Kids Program: a self-esteem enhancement program for fifth-graders
making the transition to adolescence.
- Internet Safety Program: workshops for parents, teachers and children
to teach online safety.

 Alma Howard Director of Parenting |
Alma Howard is a registered nurse, a mother of three, a grandmother of seven, and
has fifteen years experience working in the field of child abuse and
neglect. She has had extensive experience providing parenting workshops in
local schools, organizations, and daycare centers, including classes to
accomodate parents whose children are in foster care, parents who are
developmentally delayed, and parents who are incarcerated.
